The reservoir and the hill, right on your doorstep

Activities on the lake: kayaking, wakeboarding, omnia board, stand-up paddleboarding, dinghy sailing and banana boat rides are only some of what is on offer around the Balcón.

With active-tourism professionals in Alange, there are climbing, bungee jumping and skydiving activities.

There is a via ferrata on the hill of Alange: an airborne route full of adventure, with climbing, zip lines, monkey and Tibetan bridges, abseiling, caving and walking.

Birdwatching routes

More than 230 bird species within reach

With professionals, or on your own, there are plenty of routes for birdwatching.

You can walk the sunny side of the Cerro de la Culebra and the dam, for instance, where a number of notable species can be seen: little swift, black wheatear, blue rock thrush, rock bunting, Bonelli’s eagle, Egyptian vulture, griffon vulture and the striking colony of alpine swifts over the river Matachel. Riverside, water and wading birds can be seen there too.

A beautiful course, perfectly set into the Extremaduran dehesa. A long course, with par 3s of 188 m and par 4s of 424 m. Fun to play and very technical. Guests of El Balcón de Alange enjoy special treatment.

Alange thermal baths

A place for health and wellbeing

A national monument since the 1930s and a World Heritage Site, together with the archaeological site of Mérida, since 1993.

Alange is a destination for health and wellbeing thanks to its thermal waters. The effect of the mineral-medicinal water from the spring that feeds the spa has been shown scientifically.

Today these baths are part of the town spa and can be visited, though only at set times.
